R.I.P Alexander McQueen

By SABRINAGOH, February 12, 2010

It was devastated for me to know the truth of McQueen’s death last night through Twitter. The night seems a little different and filled with sadness. Until this morning, i still can’t get over this.

His death reminds me of my dreams at age of 17. My first fashion hero is McQueen with his collection AW2001 and SS2002. I thought it was brilliant to translate clothing to art. The controversy between creativity and business caught my attention.

His works and philopsophy are inspirational although it is dark at all times. His primary goal to deliver his messages to audience through his works have/had impacted many lives, at least to me unintentionally.

Lee Alexander McQueen (16 March 1969 – 11 February 2010) was an English fashion designer known for his unconventional designs and shock tactics. McQueen worked as the head designer at Givenchy for five years before founding the Alexander McQueen and McQ labels. McQueen’s dramatic designs, worn by celebrities including Rihanna, Björk and Lady Gaga, met with critical acclaim and earned him the British Fashion Designer of the Year award four times.
